Ideal weight charts aren't the best way to determine your goals.
Here is how to find a body weight that is ideal for YOU!
This formula from Dr. Covert Bailey is accurate within 2-3%. Many doctors use this formula
in their practices and have found that it helps people have a more realistic view of their weight. Many muscular women
weigh more and get upset about it, but this shows them that they can and should weigh more. For example, the ideal body
weight for a certain 5'8" woman over 30 is 160 lbs. because her lean body mass is 135 lbs. She *should* weigh more than
the chart-recommended 140-154 lbs.
Note: All measurements are taken at the widest part with the wrist measurement taken
over the outer process. -/- is "divided by."
Women Over 30
Hips + Thigh - (2)Calf - Wrist = % Body Fat
Weight x % BF = Fat #
Weight - Fat # = Lean Body Mass
LBM -/- .78 = Ideal Body Weight
Women Under 30
Hips + (.80)Thigh - (2)Calf - Wrist = % Body Fat
Weight x % BF = Fat #
Weight - Fat # = Lean Body Mass
LBM -/- .80 = Ideal Body Weight
Men Over 30
Waist + (1/2)Hip - (2.7)Forearm - Wrist = % Body Fat
Weight x % BF = Fat #
Weight - Fat # = Lean Body Mass
LBM -/- .85 = Ideal Body Weight
Sorry, for some reason I don't have the formula for men under 30.
